Marcel Mayes grew up in inner city Chicago, one of the most crime-filled cities in America, and the events that have taken place in this country have really scared him. He remembers being pulled over by an officer and fearing for his life. He doesn’t think that all police officers are bad, but he did make it clear that there is no love lost between him and law enforcement.
UIPD communication specialist Patrick Wade believes that in order to rebuild the broken relationship between law enforcement and minorities, they have to at least begin with a conversation.
